ANTIBES RESTORATION OF RETAINING WALLS IN DRY MASONRY ON THE LA GAROUPE HILLSIDE

- The Garoupe Forest (le Bois de la Garoupe) is situated in Antibes, on the seaside. Owned by the Seacoast and Lakeshores Conservation Agency (CELRL) since 1980, this ancient domain used to be an agricultural land where the olive trees, vines and wheat were grown on terrasses retained by walls in dry masonry (built in the 1760s).

Voluntary Workcamps Alpes de Lumière...
Participation in an Alpes de Lumières workcamp is unlike any other kind of participation. Alpes de Lumières is an ever youthful association of fifty years. In contact with the animators and the employees of Alpes de Lumières, you will discover Provence 'differently' you will learn to read the landscape, understand the architecture and share with us a passion for old stones and the men that live amongst them.
A workcamp organized by Alpes de Lumières, is a workcamp for the conservation, the renovation, the rehabiltation of rural heritage, or the valorization, the preservation of the environment. You be initiated in the apprenticeship of traditional construction technics ( small walls in dry stone, whitewashed stucco, stone carving, cobblestone paving, masonery) even if you don't have any former experience. A will to learn and the desire to learn are enough!
Mountain hikes, festivites around the campfire, water sports will allow you to have unforgetable moments! Click HERE for photos of our 2007 work projects
