Site description

This promontory offers a nice view of the Mane's plains, as well as Lure mountain in the north and Luberon massif in the southwest. This exceptional location which is attractive for visitors, is the subject of a overall development strategy, including conservation and enhancement works.

Since 2005, the town of Forcalquier welcomes volunteers on the Citadel hill to restor and convert walls, calades (paved sloping streets) or path edges going to the chapel Notre-Dame de  Provence, from wich the panorama is extraordinary.

 

Work site

The reaining wall shows several serious faults. It will be necessary to take the wall to pieces, then to put it back together with traditional construction techniques.

 

Activities

Setled in a farm campsite, you will wander in Provence to discover its culture and its wealth natural and built heritages.

Site description

The Citadel of Forcalquier is located on a safre hill, shaped since the Middle Ages by phases of occupation and desertion succesive.

The water went capillarity up through the safre (kind of sand), and fell inside water cisterns, which were supplied by water mines.

 

Work site

Reopening of the water mine, discharge of accumulate soil, laying of a water recovery system and creation of a small basin of water retention to supply in a few years, crops below the citadel.

 

Activities

Setled in a farm campsite, you will wander the Provence to discover its culture and its wealth natural and built heritage.

Vachères

Site description

Vachères is a Middle Ages town sitted at 830 m altitude, located between Lubéron and Lure mountain, in the heart of Lubéron Regional Natural Park. Incomparable point of view, wich extends over 7 departements, covering in the west the site of Pic Saint-Loup and the one of Sainte Baume in the south.

The town of Vachère is inhabited since prehistoric times which let us many vestiges of several cultures. These different periods of occupation allowed to discover some archaeological artifacts, wich are exhibited in Pierre Martel municipal museum.

Vachère could conserved its medieval characteristics by means of numerous stabilization and reconstruction works.

 

Work site

With the years, the reaining wall slipped. It supports a shared garden frequented by residents and children.

The work will involve to stabilize the masonry on the left and to put together the dry-stone wall again.

 

Activities

Close to Folcaquier, you will have the opportunity to discover its farm market, heritage and gorgeous landscapes.

LA mure argens

Site description

Until the last century, the Mure Argens knew a significant economic activity and a some reputation for its sheet factory and cowbell craft. These activities disappeared today.

This workcamp aims to restore Saint Joseph chapelle. Dated from the 17th century, it build by the Penitents' friary. Since 2015, Mura, Culture and Heritage association assists these works.

 

Work site

On this chapelle, the work will consist to remove the 70's primer to put on a three layer primer.

 

Activities

Close to Verdon, this village opens onto huge valleys and the Isole, a stream, wich allows you to refresh after th sunny working days.

Site description

Firoul archipelago, off the coast of Marseille, enjoys an exceptional fauna and flora. However, the hight tourist frequentation forms a major risk for the species durability. For several years, Alpes de Lumière work to restore the historic heritage and environnemental protection of Frioul Island.

 

Work site

You will build a path leading to Fort Ratonneau. The aim is encouraged hikers to take landscaped path to preserve wild areas.

 

Activities

Accomodate in Léo Lagrange holiday center, on the island, you will have immersed in the heart of this wild and preserved nature. An exceptional place from wich you will leave with incredible memories.

Saint julien le montagnier

Site description

Saint-Julien-le-Montagnier is located inside the Verdon Regional Natural Park. This old village rises on a hillock of 580 meters and offers an unobstructed view over the varoises hills, the Durance valley, the Verdon mountains, the Lure mountain and the Mont Ventoux. A strategic position making this town a wealth and attractive place in the Middle Ages.

 

Work site

The work will involve to stabilized a breach in the surrounding wall, draining walls, filling the gaps inside the masonry by coulinage technique, and sealing the facing.

 

Activities

In the heart of Verdon Regional Natural Park, you will discover the missions of the park, as well as its wealth. Hikking and swimming in the Gorges du Verdon will be suggest, then you will meet the evening in a town hall, around which you settle up the camp to enjoy the coolness of abundant trees.

Rougiers

Site description

Archaeological excavations led by Grabrielle d'Archimbaud, from 1961 in Saint-Jean village, allowed for the first time in France to go inside the organization of a medieval community. These excavations pointed the appearance of a grouped villager sector, around the church and the catsle. This kind of organization constitutes a major evolution of the rural landscape. This remarkable site, classified "Monument Historique",

is visited each year by thousands of visitors.

 

Work site

Currently, the path allowing access to the Castrum from Rougiers is forbidden, because one of the reaining walls has fell down and became a danger for hikers.

Works will consist of carry on and complete the works of 2017, that is to say rebuild the wall in its original shape.

 

Activities

Located north of the Sainte Baume, you will be able to have a walk in its forest and enjoy some swim.

You will also discover the remarkable heritage of this area, with Notre Dame Marie Madelaine cathedral at Saint Maximin-Sainte Baume especially.
